TRIBUNJOGJA.COM - Yogyakarta Special Region has a talented young motocross racer who is making strides on the international stage. He is Cameron Stefano Gallardo.

Cameron Stefano Gallardo, affectionately known as Fano, was born in Yogyakarta on April 19, 2011. His determination to race and bring honor to Yogyakarta and Indonesia is immense.

Accompanied by his parents, Fani Suwito and Rosy Liana, dressed in racing attire and wearing a proud helmet, Fano paid a visit to Ngarso Dalem Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X at Kraton Kilen. Sri Sultan, The King of Kraton Yogyakarta, is also known as the Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region.

During this meeting, Fano was also accompanied by the grandson of Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, RM Gustilantika Marrel Suryokusumo.

Marrel, familiarly called Mas Marrel, is also recognized as a young accomplished racer who has been in the international racing scene for 5 years.

Fano sought blessings, encouragement, and advice for his ambitious plans to achieve racing success on the international stage.

The King of Kraton Yogyakarta, also the Governor of Yogyakarta Special Region, expressed his pride, injected inspiration, and conveyed a special message to Fano.

During this opportunity, the Sultan reminded Fano to have strong determination and willpower and emphasized the importance of full parental support.

"Fano needs to have strong determination and remember that trust and support from parents are the path to success. To achieve his goals, Fano needs to have strong determination and appreciate the support from parents. The first steps in this journey must be taken with diligence, and it's crucial to stay focused on the process," the Sultan advised.

"While on the racetrack, you can follow the circuit's route, but when it comes to determination and perseverance, don't deviate," the Sultan's message held a meaningful lesson.

Receiving guidance from Ngarsa Dalem, Fano expressed his big dreams in the world of motocross.

"I want to participate in the International Motocross World Championship, Ngarsa Dalem. And move up to the senior professional level," he stated.

At his young age, Fano has demonstrated remarkable determination and spirit in facing every challenge that comes his way.

Fano then shared with the Sultan his experiences of having suffered bone fractures and multiple injuries while pursuing his racing hobby.

Mas Marrel later offered insights and shared his experiences as a racer with Fano.

"I've been fortunate to have 5 years of experience as part of a racing organization and as a racer for a team at one of the university in England. With Fano going abroad, I hope more young talents can gain further experiences," Marrel expressed.

Marrel also provided valuable advice to Fano, offering tips and tricks for success in the international racing scene.

"Because racing is on a different continent, and Fano will have a lot of outdoor races, he needs to quickly adapt to the relatively colder and drier air, as it greatly affects our breathing. The most important thing is to have confidence facing competitors with more experience and not feel discouraged if initial results don't meet expectations, as everyone needs experience. Results will come naturally," Marrel explained.

Fano's father, Fani Suwito, explained that on August 25, 2023, Fano would depart for Belgium to join the DVS KTM Junior Racing Team, a professional motocross racing team based in Belgium.

Fano will undergo training and participate in various motocross championships in Europe, as preparation before joining the International Junior Motorcross Championship in 2024.

As a parent, Fani Suwito expressed gratitude for the support and input from Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X.

"This ignites spirit and moral support as Fano participates in international training and championships. While in Europe, Fano will always carry the name of Yogyakarta and Indonesia. The motorcycle used by Fano will bear the emblem of the Yogyakarta Sultanate as a symbol of his love for his hometown," he said.

The Sultan then provided an overview of the sports world, particularly motorsports. He stated that Indonesia's potential is vast, and Fano stands as proof.

Therefore, the Sultan continued, there needs to be a better system for developing young athletes. Efforts are required to provide more opportunities for young generations who choose the sports world, so they can meet their livelihood needs through a profession as athletes.

Cameron Stefano Gallardo was born in Yogyakarta on April 9, 2011. He is a true example of the spirit and courage of Indonesia's young generation.

With strong family support, Fano will prove that with hard work, determination, and appropriate support, big dreams will come true.

Through his partnership with the DVS KTM Junior Racing Team in Belgium, Fano is ready to achieve success on the international stage while maintaining his spirit and love for his hometown, Yogyakarta. (*)
