Look at Picture 4.14 and discuss the following questions with a friend. You may use Indonesian. 

1. What did the people in the pictures decide to do?

Jawaban : The people in those pictures help to collect trash and clean up the environments. 

2. Who mainly showed up to help collect the trash in the pictures?

Jawaban : Many children and teenagers help to collect the trash in those pictures. 

3. What kind of trash did they mostly pick up?

Jawaban : They mostly pick up plastic trash. 

4. Do you think many people realize the dangers of plastic to the environment?

Jawaban : Of course they realize, that’s why nowadays people start to do movements to save the environment from plastic waste.

Answer the questions in the following table based on the story and Picture 4.14

1. How did Melati and Isabel spend their teenage years?

Jawaban : They spent their teenage years helping clean up Bali from plastic waste.

2. Why did the two sisters decide to help clean up Bali?

Jawaban : The two sisters decided to help clean up Bali because they wanted to protect the environment and the natural world. 

3. What did they do to start the annual island clean up?

Jawaban : They carried megaphones and stood on the back of a flatbed truck early on Sunday morning. 

4. Who mostly joined the sisters in cleaning up the island (See also Picture 4.14)

Jawaban : Children and teenagers mostly joined the sisters in cleaning up the island. 

5. Where did they do the island clean up movement?

Jawaban : They did the island clean up movement on the beaches, the rivers, and the streets.
